Six-month research stay by Wenqian Zhang from the University of Arizona

January 1, 2025 /

Wenqian Zhang is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona. He is visiting the Institute for Computational Physics of the University of Stuttgart from 1st January to 30th June 2025. His stay is organized by SFB 1313.

Wenqian Zhang is a PhD student in the "Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences" at the University of Arizona (USA). He is a member of the group of Bo Guo, who is also currently staying at the University of Stuttgart as part of his Humboldt Research Fellowship.

Wenqian Zhang is spending a six-month research stay at the Institute for Computational Physics (ICP) of the University of Stuttgart from January 1st to June 30th, 2025. He is visiting SFB 1313 principal investigator Christian Holm and his group (research project C01).

Wenqian Zhang's research focuses on multi-phase flow and transport at the microscale, as well as surface phenomena in porous media. The applications of his work include investigating the fate and transport of contaminants (e.g., PFAS) in the subsurface and the transport of reactants and products in electrochemical devices (e.g., fuel cells). During his stay at ICP, he has been developing an advanced mathematical model to quantify PFAS adsorption under complex water chemistry.
