As part of the Kimberly-Clark Distinguished Lectureship Award 2025, our SFB 1313 researcher Rainer Helmig undertook a 14-day lecture tour to China. He gave lectures at the following host institutions:

  • Tongji University, Shanghai
  • Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan
  • China University of Geosciences (CUG), Wuhan
  • Chongqing University, Chongqing
  • China University of Petroleum (East China) (CUP), Qingdao
  • Ocean University of China (OUC), Qingdao
  • Tsinghua University, Bejing
  • Peking University, Bejing
  • Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, Nanjing

The inviting research groups had a choice of two lecture titles: "Lecture 1 - Porous media and free-flow coupling - from REV to pore scale and back" and "Lecture 2 - From the brain to water uptake of roots to fuel cells - Porous Media are “almost” everywhere". Without exception, the lectures were well attended and the subsequent discussions showed the great interest of the audience.

InterPore annually presents the "InterPore Kimberly-Clark Distinguished Lecturer Award" to an internationally recognised researcher, who deals with a wide range of topics in the field of porous media.
