Costanza Aricò from the University of Palermo is our SFB 1313 guest and it's already her second research stay at the Department of Hydromechanics and Modelling of Hydrosystems (LH2) of the University of Stuttgart.
Costanza Aricò first visited the group of Rainer Helmig and the SFB 1313 from March to September 2022. During her stay, she gave the SFB 1313 "Pretty Porous Science Lecture" #22 on "Investigation of free fluid over porous media. A novel numerical solver for One-Domain-Approach" on 13 September 2022. It is a pleasure to have her again as our guest during her second research visit from from May to August 2023.
Edward Coltman, doctoral researcher at LH2, had the great pleasure to interview her about her research interests, about how the collaboration between Rainer Helmig and the SFB 1313 first started and about future activities. Find the audio interview below!
About Costanza Aricò
Costanza Aricò is Associate Professor of Fluid and Biofluid Mechanics at the University of Palermo, Italy. She studied Civil-Hydraulic Engineering and passed her PhD in 2004 at the University of Catania.
Costanza Aricò's main research activities have been focused on numerical methods for fluid dynamic problems. Her research interests concern the numerical simulation of flow and transport problems in fluids and porous media on the continuum (Darcy) scale. Starting from two recent works on DNS of 3D Navier-Stokes and coupled heat and flow transport problems, she is going to develop a numerical solver for 3D flow and transport problems using unstructured (tetrahedral) grids for hydrogeological/environmental/industrial problem simulations in "real life". During her six-month researcg stay in 2022, she and several members of LH2 jointly worked on a new one domain model (Brinkman model) for the coupling of free flow and porous media systems.
