The lecture summarizes research using computer simulations of a number of microfluidic applications including dynamic wetting phenomena, droplet dynamics, (colloidal) suspensions, biological fluids or transport in porous media. After an introduction the pros and cons of some available mesoscale simulation methods (the lattice Boltzmann method, dissipative particle dynamics, multiparticle collision dynamics, etc.), we focus on a few selected examples where specific methods are particularly suitable.

Lecturer

The short course is given by Jens Harting, professor at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Forschungszentrum Jülich (Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy).
