This short course is concerned with thermodynamic properties of aqueous electrolyte solutions with emphasis on salt solubility. The course covers the following topics:

  1. Summary of equilibrium relations
  2. Ansatz for the chemical potential of ionic species (as the driving force for salt precipitation)
  3. Phase diagrams of aqueous solutions
  4. Equilibrium conditions for weakly dissociating salts
  5. Equilibrium conditions for strongly dissociating salts
  6. solubility product
  7. solubility of various ionic species

Python notebooks for the Debye-Hückel model will be provided and a notebook for the solubility of salts will be developed during the course.
